Lisa Peterson was born in rural Wisconsin in 1969. Curious and a voracious reader, Lisa developed a vivid imagination along with a love of writing, music and art. Throughout her childhood she was fascinated with the idea of capturing a single moment on film, seemingly magically stopping time. She received her BA from Luther College in 1992, where she studied accounting and Scandinavian Studies, and absorbed the plethora of soulful music. In 1993 she earned a paralegal certificate and worked at a small law firm for several years. after which she worked in the healthcare industry as a project manager. She adopted a beautiful daughter from China in 2002.
Her early digital work centers on an honest and often poignant view of motherhood, during which she worked in the health care industry as a project manager. Late in 2014 she decided to leave corporate life to focus on her passion for photography. She opened Red Thread Images, LLC in 2015. The cornerstone of Lisa’s business is the belief that all people are connected. In the east Asian myth after which the business is named, the gods tie an invisible red cord around the ankles of those that are destined to meet or help one another.
Lisa’s clients enjoy her passion, drive and creativity. Her art explores the myriad ways in which humans are connected. Lisa draws on her own life experiences, compassion, humor and intimacy to create images that speak to humanity.
Lisa currently lives in Maple Grove, Minnesota with Connie, the love of her life, and their two fur babies Duchess and Snickers.
